BRAESIDE, ON | An Arnprior-area community organization is bringing men together through woodworking, shared projects, and opportunities to contribute to the local community.
The Arnprior/McNab/Braeside Men’s Shed operates from 832 River Road in Braeside. The group provides a workshop where members can develop practical skills, exchange knowledge, and work alongside others with similar interests.
Projects have included accessible picnic tables, birdhouses, children’s toys, and neighbourhood lending libraries. Members also take on projects for local organizations, combining hands-on work with community service.
The Men’s Shed movement began in Australia and has expanded internationally, offering men opportunities to maintain social connections through shared activities. The Arnprior group welcomes men from the greater Arnprior area, including those without previous woodworking experience.
The organization has also identified veterans as a community it hopes to reach through expanded programming.
Members can participate in workshop activities, contribute their own experience, or learn new skills from others. The Shed currently lists operating hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
