Welcome to the Fire Team K-9’s Service Dog Foster Handler Program. 

Our Foster program is specifically designed to give our Service Dogs and Facility Dogs in Training the most varied and comprehensive education possible. This video library, along with your Foster Manual, and your assigned Trainer will help ensure each program dog receives the best possible learning opportunities. We have had tremendous success with this model, in large part because of the dedicated love, support and consistancy that you provide. 

While your time as a Foster is expected to be 4-6 months, many families choose to foster again and again. This video library will help our experienced Fosters and our new Fosters alike, and allow our trainers to share up-to-date content to help keep our growing pups on track. 

The skills demonstrated in this video library are organized roughly into the corresponding stage of development. These videos are not full instructional videos, they are intended as basic reference guides for specific skills relevant to Fosters. Please use these videos as reference guides at the direction of your assigned Trainer only. Trainers will teach these skills and provide guidance to you for practice and games to reinforce these skills at home.

Our Service Dogs in training spend 12 to 18 months working hard to learn the essential skills to support their future Fire Team partner. From there they will spend up to 6 months learning and bonding with their intended match, and go on to enjoy a lifetime of service and adventures. Your contribution to their learning and growth is literally life changing for both the pups and their future match.
