YOU can help

volunteer, with dogs

“Our experience with Pauly was profoundly impactful. Pauly brought so much joy, laughter and love into our home. Not only did we learn so much from the K9 team, we learned from Pauly. Her empathy and gentle nature was felt by everyone in our house and beyond. The service dog foster program and the support we received from the staff at K9 made the experience easy to navigate. Any question or concern was answered swiftly and with support and understanding. We will miss our girl Pauly immensely but we are so proud to have been a part of her life and also contribute to the life of someone who will feel whole and fulfilled by her.” – FTK9 Foster Family for Pauly

“Fostering a Service Dog is such an easy way to give back to our community because the hard part is looked after by the Trainers and Staff. The dog training, grooming, food and vet bills are all looked after, so we just provide the fun, love and adventures” – FTK9 Foster Family for Faith

“We’ve been a foster family for a couple Service Dogs, and this has been an experience the whole family has learned from. These are the most intelligent and empatheic dogs you’re going to meet, and we’ve gained far more than we’ve given to this experience.” – FTK9 Foster Family for Everett

Whether you are seeking to give back with a few hours a month, or a few hours a day, we extend our tail wags and puppy kisses in gratitude.

For 2026 we have a few key gaps in our volunteer community that we’d love to fill.

Facility Assistance

Our new school is located in Pembroke on an acre of property. Our location includes several dog play yards, a couple buildings and a large garden that we are gradually reclaiming. Construction and customizing continues to ensure the facility meets the diverse needs of our Handlers, Trainers and Program Dogs. We often need extra hands to help with tasks in the gardens and play yards. Special skills and knowledge not required. We accept high school volunteer hours.

Temporary Foster

Program Dogs enjoy vacation time too! Whether for pups in our Boarding School or with Foster Families our pups benefit from vacation time with Temporary Fosters 2-14 days at a time. Temporary Fosters can help fill in for Foster Families who are on vacation, or bridge the gap between Foster Family Rotation, or even add enrichment to a Program Dog’s experiences while in Boarding School. Enrolling as a Temporary Foster may be ideal for families with seasonal professions (like teachers!) and for families who are considering becoming a Foster Family. Training is provided!

Foster Family
Would you like a dog in your life? Fostering a Service Dog is a wonderful way to have the benefits of a dog in your life, with the full support from a professional team to look after the really tough stuff, like training and grooming.

Our Foster Families help provide our Service Dogs with valuable life experiences beyond the classroom, ensuring that our dogs know love and adventure. We look after all food, veterinary and grooming care, along with training. You provide the love, snuggles and fun!
